The Julianstown Rectory Railway

The Julianstown Rectory Railway
1887-1927
The Story of a Victorian Miniature Railway in Ireland

Long before miniature railways became public park attractions, a handful were built on the estates of the aristocracy and even middle-class enthusiasts, and one of the earliest was built by the Reverend John Evans Preston in Julianstown, Co. Meath, in what is now the Irish Republic. Whether he knew it or not, this was one of the first miniature railways ever built.
This superbly researched PDF by David Dingemans was produced for the Meath Archaeological & Historical Society in 2026
