The story of the miniature railway at Dreamland Margate, plus the Bowleaze Switcher, and the Tiny Tramway Company in Dorset and Devon
Description
Dreamland Margate
The miniature railway at the Dreamland Amusement Park is remembered with great affection as one of very few 15-inch railways to close permanently
The Bowleaze Shunter
One of Tom Smith’s early battery electrics, with one of the largest cabs every fitted to a 7.25″ locomotive.
The Tiny Tramway Mining Company
Two-foot gauge, so not technically a miniature railway, but it was a garden railway and a very compact one, so it counts in our book, A reproduction mine was squeezed into a suburban garden in Corfe Mullen, Dorset, and later across the border in Devon. The neighbours must have loved it.
L A Live Steamers
One of the biggest and best miniature railways in the world. The superlatives go on and on
